Types of Dermatological Laser Treatments

Both IPL and laser treatments are especially common skin treatments.  Both are skin rejuvenation procedures that target blood vessels, discoloration, age spots, and changes in texture.  These treatments have been used for decades now with proven success and safety.

Intense Pulsed Light

Intense Pulsed Light treatment is a type of non-invasive light therapy.  Unlike laser treatment, IPL employs multiple wavelengths of light in pulses (broadband light) to treat dark spots, discoloration, and broken blood vessels (telangiectasia).   Intense pulsed light treatments are effective on the face, neck, chest, and hands.  The process takes 20-30 minutes depending on the location and size of the area being treated. With repeated treatments, the skin will look healthier, clearer, and brighter.

Vascular Laser

Vascular lasers eradicate small veins and telangiectasias. This treatment is commonly utilized for treating small red veins and general redness on the face but can also treat larger blue veins around the eyes and even some leg veins.

Pigment (Tattoo) Laser

Pigment lasers are effective in destroying deeper, darker pigment.  Stubborn sunspots and certain tattoos can be treated with pigment lasers.  This often used alongside IPL to refine the overall treatment of sun-damaged skin.

Fractional Resurfacing Laser

Fractional resurfacing treatment improves tone, texture, and radiance for aging, sun damage, or scarred skin.  If you’re looking at treatment with minimal downtime for no dramatic changes and minimal downtime Fraxel is ideal. This non-invasive is designed to make your look younger.  Fraxel is a more powerful and precise skin treatment that can have more dramatic results.  However, this can be accompanied by longer downtime.
