Everything You Need To Know About The Cutera Excel V+ Laser Genesis Treatment

A New Approach to Treating Vascular and Pigmented Lesions

Dr. David MacGregor is pleased to offer the newest and most advanced treatment for blood vessels and pigmentation: Cutera’s Excel V+. Developed with input from leading dermatologists, Excel V+ offers the energy needed to safely and effectively treat a wide range of skin concerns that caused by facial aging. Excel V+ touts two clinically proven wavelengths (532 nm and a Nd:YAG), which allow our experts at 450Derm to treat both large body areas for example, sun damage on the chest and arms and also isolate and treat smaller, more focal lesions like a spider vein on the chest, or a cherry angioma on the lip.

About the Cutera Excel V+ Laser

Excel V+ can be used for a variety of dermatologic conditions, including reducing redness and rosacea, uneven skin tone, sun damage and age spots.

The advanced laser technology allows Dr. MacGregor and Christina Tucker, PA-C,  to customize treatments based on individual patient needs while providing superior results with minimal downtime.

Excel V+ can treat a range of skin tones, from light to dark, with greater precision and safety.

Laser Genesis Collagen Stimulation with Excel V+

Laser Genesis is a revolutionary laser treatment built into the Excel V+ that works to reverse additional signs of aging that we notice as fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and lax skin. Laser Genesis works by using short pulses of energy to stimulate collagen remodeling, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles long term. An individual treatment will provide significant improvement, but when done in a series of treatments, the overall effect is dramatic and long-lasting.

We believe that patients will love Laser Genesis because it is non-invasive with no downtime required after each session – making it an ideal choice for those whose complexions need a refresh without having to undergo surgery or other invasive cosmetic procedures.

Laser Genesis for Acne Scarring

The laser energy can also break up the disordered collagen in scars and stimulate neocollagenesis to rebuild smoother, more orderly skin. For shallow, pitted scars — such as acne scars — the laser stimulates the growth of healthy new skin to improve the appearance of depressions and pitting.  With regular treatments, you can see a noticeable improvement in your wrinkles and scars over time.

Laser Genesis results are gradual but long-lasting, and the treatments are safe for all skin types. With regular maintenance treatments, you can maintain your results for years to come.

Preparing for a Treatment

Preparing for an Excel V treatment is essential to ensure the best results are able to be achieved.

Before your procedure, you should avoid any activities or products that could interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment, including avoiding self-tanners and excessive sun exposure at least two weeks before your appointment. You should also make sure to apply sunscreen daily and reapply often to avoid getting a tan before your procedure.

Our practice advises that patients avoid waxing, facials, peels, and depilatory products like Nair for one to two weeks prior to their treatment.

Patients with a history of cold sores, herpes, or fever blisters, should let their provider know ahead of their appointment so they may receive the best care and results.

What Happens During a Cutera Excel V+ Treatment?

Before beginning the procedure, your provider will prep the area and provide you with proper eye coverings  (either laser eye shields or protective eye goggles) to ensure your eyes are protected.

Depending on the size of the area and the number of areas treated, your treatment may last anywhere from 10-30 minutes.

Is the Cutera Excel V+ Treatment Painful?

The Excel V+ procedure itself is relatively pain-free and does not require numbing cream or anesthetic.

How Many Excel V+Treatments are Needed?

The number of treatments required to address a particular condition can vary greatly depending on the severity and complexity of the skin concern. Generally, most treatments require only one or two treatment sessions in order to achieve the desired results. However, some conditions may require more than two treatments.

It is important to discuss your individual needs with Dr. MacGregor or Christina Tucker, PA-C,  during your consultation to receive a customized treatment and maintenance plan.

Post-Treatment Need-to-Knows

After the procedure, it is normal to experience slight redness and mild swelling at the treated area. This is a transient effect that resolves quickly and should not be cause for alarm. The redness and swelling may last a few hours or even up to a day, but can be covered with gentle makeup or tinted sunscreen application.

We advise patients to avoid excessive heat for a period of 24-48 hours. Topical treatments can be resumed after 1-2 weeks.
